Radcliffe Juniors U16 Tige 2 vs 2 Roach Dynamos U16 Whites

Roach Under 16 Whites came into the game today, looking to bounce back from an undeserved defeat in their previous game. It was an early start and some of the lads unfortunately looked like they were still a little sleepy in the first half, finding themselves out of position or failing to close down quick enough, which meant Radcliffe were able to grab two goals, one of them just on the stroke of half time. A shuffle around was needed in the second half and the lads were asked to exploit the wide spaces and lift their energy levels.

The second half was completely different with the Roach lads absolutely controlling the game, finding space and creating chances. It looked for a while as though it was going to be another frustrating game with some of the finishing lacking that bit of quality, but with 15 minutes of the game left, Tobi picked up a loose ball, worked it out wide beating a couple of opponents and squared it for Jamie to slot into an open net. The lads kept pushing, creating more chances and even had to cope with being down to 10 men for a while after a sin bin decision by the ref. Then, with 2 minutes left on the clock, Frankie won back possession from a Radcliffe throw, the lads put the defence under pressure and Logan cut back a loose ball for Ben to finish sweetly into the corner. 2-2! The lads had their tails up, so pushed forward for a winner and with the last attack of the game, nearly got it, Radcliffe clearing off the line!

A good point, especially after being two goals down.

Man of the match went to Frankie who brought the control that was lacking in midfield and really pushed his team on to get back in the game.
