Roach Dynamos U16 Whites 0 vs 1 Pennine Juniors U16 White

First league game of the season today against Pennine Whites who are always a good test.

The first half was a little scrappy, with not too many chances for either team, although Taylor made a great stop when called upon in net to keep the scores at 0-0 by half time.

We asked the lads to use the ball a bit better and try to get more shots away in the second half and they began to take control. Chances were still hard to come by but the Roach lads were seeing much more of the ball, until a long Pennine ball over the top caught out the Roach defence and they were punished with a good finish. Roach heads didn't drop though and the last twenty minutes was all one-way traffic. Pennine though packed out their defence with their keeper pulling off a couple of good saves. They also went into 'game management' mode, making more substitutions than I've ever seen before to slow the game down, and taking far too long when retrieving dead balls, meaning that they were able to see out the game.

An undeserved loss, but another good team performance from Roach Whites, with Zidane picking up Man of the Match for his brilliant defensive display.
