Elton & Walshaw JFC U12 Ti 1 vs 3 Roach Dynamos U12 Green

First match back after Lockdown 2 and it was an early morning start!

With a slight change of formation, we took the chance to give some players, who don't start every game, the chance to show what they can do. Greens started well, with some good defensive play and some nice short passes in the midfield. It was a close first half with both teams cancelling each other out and a few chances for both teams but we came in at half time drawing 0-0.

At half time, a slight formation change made the difference, putting an extra player back in midfield to take more control. Just 3 minutes in to the 2nd half and Greens took the lead. Some nice work out on the left by Dan led to the ball bobbling loose just outside the area, where Jay picked it up and got a shot away, which the goalie couldn't hold on to and it bobbled in to the net. Roach continued to work hard and put the opponents under pressure and it paid off in the 40th minute when a mistake from their goalie saw him hit it straight to Callum, who took a couple of touches before firing it in to the goal. The opposition pushed hard to try and get back in to the game but that left gaps at the back which Roach took advantage of in the 50th minute, Josh winning the ball back in defence and playing a pass right through the middle to Alex. He still had a lot to do but carried the ball well, composed himself and finished nicely for the 3rd goal. There were plenty more chances to increase the scoreline too but it wasn't to be, with Roach hitting the post a couple of times and the crossbar too.

Towards the end, Elton & Walshaw managed to grab a consolation goal but it was another win for Roach Greens and another good performance.

Man of the match awards today went to Ewan who played out of position but showed his versatility and always put in 100%, Joe who was like a terrier chasing down the opponents but also looking to play some good passes and Alex who deserved his goal for all his efforts and persistence.
