With a renewed optimism going into the new season and a new fresh faced team to face, this was going to be The Revs night surely?

Well no, it fell flat. There was a lot of and very little puff in the end.

Passing was woeful and J. Evans had very little to work with in front of goal. The opposition bypassed the midfield and played it forward to their star man. He turned, twisted, could use both feet and had a burst of speed that caused problems at the back. Oh and he also thought he was Ronaldo and was the biggest moaner going. Every tackle from P. Pinkstone was met with arms thrown in the air and him venting at the ref.

He was the guy that broke the deadlock though midway through the first half. Counter attacking pros so it seemed.

The Revs had few chances.

J. Evans drifted a ball in that D. Pinkstone couldn't connect with, Steane had a shot on the half volley go wide, but that was about as good as it got.

The second half The Revs made more of a fist of it and began to settle but the same issues persisted. At one point The Revs had the opportunity in a 3 on 1 situation but the first pass was wayward and led to nothing.

The opposition kept creeping up in attack but Myers was in fine form and kept the score to the one goal.

J. Evans latched onto a long ball but it would not come down quick enough and not only lobbed the keeper but the goal too.

A big hit from L. Evans spurred the team on and in the last 10 minutes finally got their break through when Allen headed on a Myers long ball and it fell kindly to L. Evans who scuffed it in making it all square.

The Revs had their tails up and pushed for the winner, but agonisingly they were hit not once, not twice but three times on the break as their one man army completed his hatrick.

The final goal was truly woeful as their guy stood over the freekick, turned to complain but at the same time taking the defence by surprise and placing in the bottom corner.

It was a flattering score line to the opposition in the end and a stark wake up call that The Revs need to be better with the ball.

Onwards and upwards though.
