It was a wet morning up at Master Park in Oxted and despite the struggle to get a team out a Reigate team on a high were able to cause an upset beating Oxted 4-0. It looked like Oxted were going to be a tough customer in the opening bouts with their midfield getting the run of the game and they had a few chances but nothing dangerous, we hit back later in the half and had plenty of chances including Tulley hitting the bar and plenty of chances for Mikey and Sam. Sam broke the deadlock when a Mikey cross found Sam's head a yard or two out and we went 1-0. We had plenty of issues with the offside flag and Gary was very unfortunate to see his goal ruled out when it was clearly onside. We were happy at half time after holding out against all Oxted had to offer which was coming through the same 3 players every attack. They came out the blocks fast again in the 2nd half and must have had about 6 corners in the space of 5 minutes with Nathan and the defence dealing well with every attack. Then out of nothing came the 2nd goal when Martyn played in Tulley who took a few strides forward and nailed a shot with took off into the top corner from 30 yards and there was no stopping it. After this it seemed like Oxted's heads had gone and we started running the game with Hames and Dean running the midfield and Mikey and Shaban causing all sorts of problems on the wing. It was 3 soon enough when sam played Shaban in one on one and he dinked it past the keeper. Shabs made it 4 just before the end when Martyn who had moved over to the wing played a good ball into his path and this time he dinked it over the onrushing keeper and it was game over. A superb performance from everyone, Lovell putting in a good performance at CB with Rob superb as always, the midfield running the show in the 2nd half but Mikey put in a proper performance, running his heart out once again... If only he'd figure out the offside rule, he'll be getting more and more goals! Great result to lead us into the festive season and Godstone at home in the cup in 3 weeks time!
