Battlebridge 3 vs 4 Reigate Hill FC

Only 11 of Reigate's finest made their way to Caterham to take on Battlebridge. We started strongly and passed the ball around in awful conditions finally getting a breakthrough then Eamonn's throw wasn't cleared properly and Alex Smith blasted one into the corner. We then got complacent and sloppy playing the same old long balls and struggled to play football. Before half time Battlebridge notched 2 goals with a quick pacy striker making a breakthrough twice. At half time we knew we were still in the game and Eamonn gave a rousing half time talk to send us out. We struck almost instantly when Lewi picked Smithy out from back to front and Smithy made no mistake one on one. They went ahead again thanks to an unfortunate scramble from a corner but with 15 mins to do we felt we could still do it. Billy then took the ball down and gave it to Chucky who punted it over the top for Smithy who nailed it in the far corner for 3-3. Battlebridge then missed a guilt edge chance when heading over and we ended up going straight down the other end and Rob played Smithy in for his 4th sparking jubilant celebrations. The whistle went after Jon "Jesus Christ Fenton" Gillett chased down a kick to touch. The 11 warriors all put a shift in from the back to front in tough conditions and we go again next week v Charlwood!
