So it was the beginning of a new season for the mighty Pyrford Social with lots of hard work done over the summer months securing a new kit with sponsorship along with a new home ground.

The first game was away to pre-season title hopefuls University Strollers who had a number of players that were in div 1 with them last year. With a bare 11 for the first game due to injuries, suspensions and people away Pyrford started the game sluggishly giving the ball away too often and very cheaply which was soon capitalised on by the home team with their star striker racing through and with Lewis making a last ditch challenge the striker went down and a penalty was awarded which was put away by the striker with aplomb.

This spurred Pyrford into action and soon enough there was more pressing and a greater work rate and with Pyrford  playing their passing game they were rewarded with a well worked goal for Andrew Fowler.  A Second followed soon with the superb Andrew Summers snatching a goal of the toes of the impressive Snipes as the goalkeeper could not hold onto a snap shot by Fowler.

So Pyrford went into half time 2-1 up and the instructions were to carry on playing the good football. The instructions were adhered to and Pyrford quickly raced into a 4-1 lead with another 2 goals from the brilliant Andrew Fowler that gave him his first Pyrford hatrick.

Pryford then decided it was time to sit back but this was a dangerous thing to do as the host started to push for  a consolation and with some poor defending and ill discipline the host scored two goals. The game was 4-3 with 10 minutes to go and pyrford had 2 more opportunities to add to their goal talley but these opportunities were not taken and with if it were not for Nathan  making a world class save in the dying minutes Pyrford would have drawn their first game. However a win was the outcome and a great start to the season. The next game is away to Milford who started their season with a impressive 7-0 win at Pixham North End so Pyrford will have to be at the top of their game.
