Orpington Athletic 2 vs 1 Abbeymead Adults

Orpington recorded their first 3 points of the season with a well fought victory against Abbeymead Adults. A goal in each half was enough to secure the points and get the team among the points.

Orpington set up positively and in the opening 10 minutes could have had the ball in the back of the net 3 times, save for some great goalkeeping by Abbeymead.

Battling the heat and a responsive opposition, Orpington failed to create much more in the first half, but a driving run from Nick Adamou, followed by a thunderous left footed strike, gave them the lead just before half time.

In the second half, Orpington conceded an early goal, yet again from a set piece. However, a few tweaks to personnel rallied the team and a harder, battling performance forced opportunities, including a corner which skipper, Terry Fowler, headed home.

Orpington worked hard to preserve the lead and despite few opportunities to extend it, they ran out winners with a good effort.

Orpington turn their attention to cup football next Sunday, with a visit from Woolwich Common FC.
