Johnson Paint Trophy Third Place Play-Off: Gandy's Morecambe ran out 3-2 winners against Luke's Peterborough to clinch third place overall. The first half was all Morecambe, and they raced into the lead when a quick counter-attack saw Ash's cross/shot fall nicely to Rowan for a 2 yard tap-in. The Shrimps continued to push forward and extended their lead when Patto found McLardy, who controlled on his chest before sending a low volley into the net. The only other real action of the half saw Neil manage to foul his own team-mate (Deano) in a Chuckle Brothers-esque moment of confusion!
After the break Peterborough got a goal back when Crozier fed Griffin on the edge of the area and he curled in a sweet shot. The Posh suddenly began to grow in confidence, and Spence was called into action on several occasions as Pete, Crozier and Luke spearheaded attacks, while at the other end Mick, Dan and Rowan all saw shots well blocked. Eventually Morecambe regained their two-goal cushion as Dan and Phil instigated a quick counter-attack then ended with Mick feeding Patterson for a stabbed finish as he beat the onrushing Toobs to the ball. Luke hit a late consolation for Peterborough as the pressure grew, but Morecambe held on for the win.
