Johnson Paint Trophy Game 4: Phil's Morecambe defeated Darrell's Notts County 3-1 in a game of dubious quality but commendable spirit! The first half was fairly even as Brett smashed the Shrimps ahead after Luke had played him in, before Fletcher made the most of a high ball and some wayward defending to bring the ball down and set up Daz for a low finish to level the score(s).
Allaway made some great saves to keep the scorers level until half time, but his defences were finally breached in the second half when Patto found Sicky Sam for an exquisitive left-footed finish, before Crozier found Sicky on the edge of the box, and despite Andrew Griffin blocking the shot on the line, the ball bounced back off Pete and into the net. Matthew and Fletch tried to drive the Pies forward in the dying minutes, but Ian and Toobs in goal kept their shots at bay, before Pete finished off a year of MEFF football with shot that sailed over the nets and into the countryside.
