Olympique LMB 2 - 20 AFC Geordie
Standing head and shoulders above the rest of Division 5, AFC Geordie proved their worth against an LMB side featuring debutants Ben ‘Marmite’ Peterson and Chris ‘Fletch’ Fletcher, with Chris ‘Crouchigol’ Hatfield making his long-awaited return from the wilderness. With some strong running, passing and movement, AFC raced to a 10-0 lead at half-time, curling some composed finishes past the exposed Paul in goal. A slightly improved second half saw Rowan hit the net twice, the second after a wonderful through-ball from Switty, but unfortunately at the other end the shots continued to rain down on Paul, and everyone was culpable of sloppy or hurried passing to gift possession back to the opposition who were brimming with confidence. Crozier, Kieran and Fletch saw several shots well-saved by their keeper, but Pete and I felt that Crouch deserved Man of the Match after some persistent running, strong tackling and cool passing, but there were still glimmers of composed play from all the team. We play AFC Geordie in two weeks time, but at least we now know that we’ll have to be strong and tight if we want to get anything against them.
