Kirby Muxloe FC U14 88 Sat 6 vs 0 Nuneaton Borough

Tough game for the lads on Saturday that’s for sure. Kirby are a very good team having won the YEL league last season. Unfortunately, we struggled to compete with them all over the pitch right from the first whistle.

For the whole of the game the lads did their best to hold off wave after wave of attacks with some resolute defending at times. If we did manage to get the ball away Kirby were quick to win it back.

Sometimes you must hold your hands up and say they were far better than us and they were. Difficult start to the season for the lads and next weeks game is going to be a tough one too – I think 3 out of our first 5 games are probably going to be against top 10 teams, so we just need to be patient and wait for the league to settle and start picking up points against teams that are our level.

Man of the match this week went to Alfie Petch, who worked hard for the whole of the game, tackling and heading and also kept playing out from the back.
