With a good number players missing, this was an excellent performance with solid defending, good passing and control in midfield and eight finishes, some of them outstanding!
ABDUL ALSAHAR opened the scoring from the spot after a handball (see above), then JEBRIL ABDELRAHMAN, back on the scoresheet again, doubled the lead with a brilliantly struck free kick. Before the interval, ABDELRAHMAN had added his second, assisted by Kyle McPhee, and NABIL AL HUMAIDI netted the goal of the day with a superb hit into the top far corner from well outside the Burnhill box. A defensive mix-up allowed Burnhill to get a goal back. 4-1 at half time.
The second half saw Akram Byfanzi assist RYAN DEVINE to net from close in then the captain for the day later scored again with a strike from well out on the right for his second; ABDULMAJEED ALQADHI was rewarded for his excellent overall contribution when he was brought down in the box and scored from the spot expertly; then Nabil Al Humaidi linked with centre back TOM RODRIGUEZ who finished coolly for his first goal of the season!
Experienced Albanian goalkeeper Edison was highly competent, the Back 4 always in control with Kyle McPhee outstanding, the midfield players - Zoro, Al Humaidi, Devine, Alqadhi and, for a while debutant Tariq Ahmad - were tidy, very competitive and clever on the ball; while Jebril Abdelrahman was very much back to his best and unlucky to have a potential hat-trick goal chalked off for offside.
With two league games to go - against Jags and ATM - our points total canβt now be bettered- very pleasing considering our somewhat erratic start to the league season with nine points dropped due to a 1-0 defeat and 3 draws. Since then we have recorded 8 straight victories, 11 overall in 15 games.
Edison; Alsahar, McPhee, Rodriguez, Al Humaidi; Zoro, T. Ahmad, Alqadhi; Devine, Abdelrahman, Byfanzi.
