Redwood 1sts 1 vs 0 Naas AFC (Whites)

Although losing one-nil, this will go down as one of our better performances against a team 3 or 4 leagues ahead of us. We took time to settle but then the game evened out with little between the two sides. Naas passed well and unlike other games, players were rarely caught in possession and therefore we didn't give the ball away needlessly. We need to learn from this performance - we play well when we play to our strengths which is the passing game and we play poorly when we get caught in possession. Over all, players played in their positions well in an experimental 3-5-2 formation. Good to have good options on the bench where we could make tactical changes when needed - a 'luxury' we haven't had for many weeks. Still a bit low on chances created and shots on target but this was a more attacking performance over all. A draw probably would have been a fair result and that almost happened with Ben's close free kick. Good to see Conor Foley back who put in a MotM display although tried his best to get sent off arguing with referee. There were good performances all round and almost nobody had a poor game. Standout performances from Matty up front (although it was fruitless!) and from Mark at the back. If we can bring this performance in to our next game(s) against weaker opposition we will be very hard to compete with.
