The title race is hotting up in the ECL with the top four clubs all in with a realistic shout at the title  and with five of the six games ending in away wins  it is going to be an exciting finish to the season.

AZ's keeper Dan Quinn clears the ball away from danger

Club AZ did themselves  a real favour and added to their impressive goal difference by putting five past Mary Dendy as they won comfortably at Great Warford 5-1 . The score line was harsh on the hosts  but they only had themselves to blame . Too often they needlessly gave the ball back to their opponents when in possession and put themselves back under pressure. Dendy though , should have had an opportunity to take the lead on twenty minutes when Matt Morris was clearly tripped inside the penalty area by Matt Finnerty  but referee Derek Scott waved play on with both sets of players looking equally baffled by the decision. The visitors took full advantage of their good fortune  and scored soon after , Lee Manion stabbing the ball home from close range as the ball ran free from a long throw in .

Club AZ were comfortably in control in the second half  and Jon Blackburn added a second with a shot low into the bottom right hand corner from sixteen yards  on  fifty eight minutes .  Lee Manion waltzed unchallenged right through the middle of the Dendy defence to make it 3-0 with his second of the game with a quarter of an hour remaining as they continued to create chances . Nick Brunker pulled a goal back with three minutes remaining to give Dendy hope but Tim Hammond  shattered their hopes scoring a sublime goal from inside his own half straight from the re-start  to restore AZ’s three goal advantage. AZ were delighted , Dendy , downbeat and to add insult to injury keeper Ryan Fallon gave away a penalty as he felled substitute Omar Lampety  in the third minute of stoppage time. Manion stepped up to complete his hat-trick with his very last kick of the game .
