MARIST CASUALS 0 vs 6 Castlecliff United

Low on confidence even lower on first team members available the Casuals hosted Castlecliff on a glorious Saturday afternoon.

With Matt Roberts withdrawing late, Russell Eades having a niggle and Andy Gilberd’s calf injury not healing coupled with Cameron Dale and Steve Maguire’s unavailability saw new signings Mark Dawson and Mike Connor make their debuts.

Casuals started well but as is the case after four minutes Castlecliff broke and scored against the run of play. The balance of the first half was even until after 30 minutes the Blues striker latched on to a loose ball and scored. Two more before half time saw a despondent Casuals side head to the sheds four down.

Two second half goals saw off the Casuals who huffed and puffed but lacked an edge up front. Sub Geordie Steedman tested the keeper late but that was as good as it got for the Orange side and again they finished scoreless in a game they would have thought they should have done better.
