Malet Vikings FC 8 vs 2 Malet Vikings VETS FC

Following some decent football played in the training sessions leading up to the game, Viking’s 1st were able to bring the same standard into the first friendly of the season. A depleted Vets team started the game with some neat possession football but were powerless to defend the the first main Vikings attack from the right which saw Dodsworth chip the ball over to an unmarked Miller at the far post. This clearly gave the Vikings a lot of confidence as further goals from Boxall, Bird and Dear gave Vikings a significant lead.

The Vets pulled one back following a rare mistake at the back before Barker the Vikings Captain made it 5-1 at half time.

Following a number of changes for both sides the game settled into a more even affair with the Vets having more of the chances, however debutant Worrall want to be beaten before Dear netted his second from a quality team move.

Scott was next to get in the action with a “screamer” from the right side of the area leaving the Vets keeper no chance.

Dear added to his tally with a deserved hat trick before Vets pulled one back at the end.

Overall is was an extremely satisfying performance from an exciting young Vikings side looking forward to their first season together in the East Riding County League.
