Malahide Utd U14 2 vs 2 Terenure Rangers

Malahide have to settle for a point today with Terenure snatching an equaliser with the last kick of the game.

I think its safe to say we started off the game very slowly, we gave too much space and possession of the ball to Terenure who capitalised on our shaky start to take the lead within the first 10 mins of the game. We did get back on level terms with Toby scoring his 4th goal of the season on 17 mins. The remainder of the first half was scrappy but with about 5 mins to go before half time we started to grow into the game, controlling the tempo up until the half time whistle.

When the 2nd half started we played more on the front foot, opening up the play, this allowed us to create more chances and put them under pressure on the edge of their 18 yard box. Our back line was solid today, never putting a foot wrong with Matty sweeping behind them. We utilised our wingers more in the 2nd half and they were a danger going forward, linking with our centre forward to create some good opportunities in front of goal. On the 68th min, it looked as though we had won the game when Gav (making his first appearance of the season) played a ball over the Terenure back line, Luke ran on to the pass and drove to the 18 yard box before weaving past the CB and finishing into the bottom corner of the net to make it 2-1 with a min to go! Unfortunately with the last kick of the game, Terenure's forward ran the ball out of play (referee allowed play on) and cut it back for his teammate to finish to end the game 2-2.
