Loughshinny United 3 vs 0 Celbridge Town

In typical winter conditions in Loughshinny Park today the league leaders extend the lead at the top of the table to 6 points with their 6th win in as many games. A big shower landed just before kick off but it didn't take Loughshinny long to go ahead when Evan Spencer played a great cross field ball into the feet of Mark Delves and the winger kept up his rich vain of form to take down the pass wonderfully and finish into the corner on the run. It was nearly 2 when Rory O'Connor took in a long ball with a great touch beat his defender but screwed his shot wide of the post much to his anger. O'Connor should have had a penalty when he was tripped in the box and much to everyones suprise it wasnt given. Loughshinny were not at their brilliant best today and were lucky to be playing against a team that has struggled so far this season. Mark Delves got his 2nd and doubled the lead when Spencer beat his man out wide and hung up a ball to the far post where Loughshinny had a few players waiting to put the ball into the net and it was Delves who rised highest to score. A few minutes later with the move of the match saw Spencer feed O'Connor who laid it back and spun his man and Spencer deftly chipped over the defender to feed O'Connor who cut inside the Celbridge defender and smash it into the top corner to make it 3 before Half Time. 2nd half Loughshinny played against the wind and created more chances but failed to punish Celbridge. O'Connor had a header blocked by an arm which should have resulted in another penalty, Cian Ensor also had a shot blocked with an arm, O'Connor was then thrown to the ground in the box after winning the ball back from the defender but the ref refused to give any. O'Connor got on the end of a great Ensore cross and failed to hit the corner with his header and the keeper made the save. The game fizzled out to a 3-0 Loughshinny victory. MOTM Mark Delves
