Lifford Celtic u-16s 3 vs 3 Castlefinn Celtic

A fast start from Lifford seen them go 2-0 up in the first 18mins. Possession was sharded for most of the second half until the final 5 minutes saw a dangerous ball whipped in by the very dangerous and skilful Rory Matthewson of Castlefin,misjudged by Liffords right back and tapped in at the back post. Castlefin made a good start to the second half piling the pressure on Lifford and got their reward after sloppy play from Liffords defence under no pressure saw them lose the ball to the fantastic Larkin who twisted the defender and swung a left footed effort straight into the far top corner 2-2. Not long after Castlefin lumped the ball clear out of defence,Liffords centre half poorly misjudged the flight of the ball letting Matthewson in on goal where he made no mistake,3-2. Lifford started to pile the pressure on and were nearly caught on the break until Todd took a yellow card chopping down Larkin. Larkin in turn said some untoward words that the ref didn't like,red card for Larkin. Lifford created chance after chance and finally got their reward when Corey McGlynn ran onto cleared corner to strike a ferocious half volley past the keeper and into the net,3-3. Lifford were creating havoc against the castlefin defence but just couldn't find the winner. Philip Kelly was very unfortunate with a low effort late on that bobbled just wide. 3-3 it ended in what was a very well contested local derby.
