Attleborough Sports J U15 3 vs 0 Leamington Hibs Juniors

Back in October we won this home fixture against Attleborough convincingly 5:1. However, having taken just 1 point from the last 9, team morale was certainly in need of a boost!

After 20mins of the first half we started to move the ball around a bit better, but without creating a clear goal scoring opportunity. Attleborough then scored 2 goals in quick succession, the first after we failed to defend a cross and the second a speculative long range effort that caught Jack off his line. Despite going down 2:0 we maintained our application and always looked capable of getting a breakthrough but went into half time still 2:0 down.

We spent the first 15mins of the second half camped in Attleborough’s half, but just couldn’t convert the few chances we created. Ollie had two decent long range efforts and Jayden missed a great opportunity after a good through ball from Tariq. Unable to seemingly buy a goal, Attleborough then went 3:0 up, when we failed to clear our lines and they scored from another long range strike.

This took the wind out of our sails and we only avoided a 4:0 defeat due to a fantastic save by Jack just before the final whistle.

There was evidence of more intent and application in this game than previously, but our passing game – which was the key to our great start to the season – seems to have disappeared at the moment and we are not creating enough opportunities as a result.
