L4 Football Club U16's 4 vs 5 Ormskirk West End

It was a cold & frosty morning as we returned to Sunday league action following the second lockdown. We came into the game in confident mood but had one or two players carrying knocks. As ever when we face the side from down the East Lancs it is always a hard fought contest and today was no different. Four times Ormskirk led only for us to hit back. We equalised to make it 4-4 when Anthony Cooke marked a personal landmark with his first ever hat trick for the club, keeping his cool from the spot for the second time. His two penalty’s came either side of a trademark bullet header from a excellent Zico corner. With two minutes remaining it looked like the points would be shared which on reflection would have been a fair result. One minute Jude had whipped a terrific cross into the box for Alex who’s header was well saved, less then 20 seconds later Dan seemed to loose his footing and couldn’t recover in time to catch his man who spun and hit a shot that saw a rare mistake by Joe. Our number 1 who has been immense since the summer spilled the effort back into the path of the West End player who recovered quicker to knock into the net. It was a cruel blow and sees us loose back to back games for the first time since September 2019. Encouragement must be taken again from the performance however in order to recover to avoid it being a blue Christmas.
