L4 Football Club est 2014 5 vs 3 MSB Woolton Warriors

As the curtain came down on the 2021-22 season the league and cup double was wrapped up following a 5-3 Challenge Cup final victory over MSB Woolton Warriors. Stoneycroft has been a lucky ground for us as we went in pursuit of defending the competition having got our hands on the cup vs City of Liverpool 11 months ago.

Charlie Hacking returned to the starting XI bagging a hat-trick with the 3rd the pick of the lot as Alex McDonald had played a magnificent ball through that he raced onto and finished with an sublime dink over The Woolton keeper for his 25th goal in his first full season. Kaleb Sweeney opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Hacking closed down the keeper who had left his box and misjudged his pass. Sweeney intercepted and dispatched into the empty net for his 4th goal of the campaign. Our number 9 justified the mangers decision in starting him with two clinical strikes which gave us a half time lead of 3 goals to nil.

Woolton struck one back just after the hour mark which gave them some belief only for Hackings hat-trick to restore our 3 goal cushion before Ethan Danku came off the bench to get amongst the goals to make it 5-1. A harsh penalty was awarded when the ball struck Sam O'Neill's hand late on which former player Rueben Muscatelli converted before he capitalised on a defensive error to get a second and Woolton's third with less than 30 seconds left to play.

It completed another 5 straight victory's and capped off an excellent season as we claimed that elusive league title that we have had to work so hard to get our hands on over the last few seasons. The icing on the cake was completing the double which will give us the confidence and belief to use as a springboard as we prepare for a new challenge in the 2022-23 season. Bring It On!!
