Ratoath Harps 2 Kill Celtic 5
After a two week hiatus, The red n black were back in action in the league with a trip away to Ratoath Harps.
A barely playable, muddy pitch awaited Kill as they looked to add to their title push.
With a few bodies missing, it was a potentially daunting trip but Kill started the brighter of the two.
The early pressure amounted to a Kill corner and O Connor (N) swung the ball into the onrushing Brady-Mullen who expertly placed a header into the bottom corner.
1 nil and Kill were cruising.
A few more chances came and went.
Peter Fagan and Conroy were attacking well down the right side and Kinsella looked dangerous down the left.
However Kill were punished for these wasted chances as Ratoath got their equaliser.
A long ball was played over the head of O Connor (N) and the resulting cross was finished by the Ratoath no.
10.
At 1-1 kill were still the better team and were back in front through a long range Liam O Connor shot.
Power laid off the ball to the injured O Connor and cried "don't shoot" but nevertheless the shot went into the bottom corner.
As Kill searched for their third to put the game to bed, ratoath hit back with a counter.
The ball was again played over the head of O Connor and resulted in the Ratoath 10 unleashing a fierce strike from the edge of the box into the top corner.
2-2 and Ratoath began to play with confidence.
In truth they could have been 3-2 up going into half time if not for Sean O Connor atoning for an error.
At halftime manager Aidan Gannon gave the lads a bollicking and it paid rewards as they dominated the second half.
Cusack and Devaney were tireless in the middle and alongside Conroy were the source of The kill assault on the Ratoath goal.
Kill got their third around the 55th minute.
A free kick was awarded , 25 yards out in the centre of the pitch.
Power stood over it and produced a wicked curling effort right into the top corner, leaving the Ratoath keeper nothing to do but to admire it.
Whilst Ratoath again looked dangerous on the counter, kill scored their fourth not long later.
A free kick was whipped in by Brady-Mullen and a mix up from the Ratoath centre back and keeper eventually saw Devaney turn the ball into the net.
A real collectors item as Devaney has not scored in 3 years! 4-2 up and Kill were cruising.
The fifth game as the injured O Connor (L) made the most of an error from the Ratoath keeper and had a tap in.
It would be the last thing O connor did as he had to go off injured leaving Kill to see the last ten minutes out with 10 men.
Overall, a fair result and 3 welcome points for Kill as they saw out a game with the bare minimum.
