Kill 3 Clogherstown 1.

Kill welcomed Clogherstown to Straffan road for the second time this season as they looked to make it back to back wins in 2017.

A sunkissed, well groomed pitch saw Kill play some of their best football this season.

Reverting back to the 4-3-3 formation, Maguire came in for Fagan at right back, Devaney came in for the absent Montgomery and O Connor (L) came in for Kinsella.

Kill started the brighter as Power playing on the left terrorised the Clogherstown right back.

Cusack and Carroll also saw lots of the ball.

As the game progressed chances came and went for Kill.

Conroy went close, as did O Connor (L).

The breakthrough finally came a few minutes before half time as a Liam O Connor shot was turned into the net by a Clogherstown defender.

The HT whistle blew and Kill felt they should have been at least two to the good.

Kill were made to pay for their missed chances as Clogherstown opened the second half brightly and equalised within minutes after their striker placed a volley into the bottom corner.

This equaliser spurred Clogherstown on as they enjoyed their best spell of the game.

Niall Devaney made some crucial tackles as did Cusack.

Cusack proved to be a real engine the kill midfield as he was instrumental in both attack and defence.

Kill were pushing to take the lead again and eventually got what they deserved in the 60th minute.

Power received the ball and expertly passed in into the path of Carroll.

Carroll, who peeled off the Clogherstown defender wrapped his foot around the ball and finished calmly into the bottom right hand corner.

Kill then made some changes as Kinsella came on for O Connor (L) and Stephen Carroll came on for his namesake Leon.

It was the sub Kinsella who played a huge part in the third goal as he threaded a delicate ball through to Power who finished with aplomb.

Later Chris Flood and Stephen Brady Mullen were brought on to sure up the Kill defence and keep them fresh.

Kill throughly deserved the 3 points.
