Kill Celtic survived a difficult away trip to local rivals Blessington FC to gain 3 valuable points.

A flat but heavy pitch was the venue where two sides would run themselves into the ground.

The first 5 minutes were a scrappy affair with neither team really getting the ball on the deck. Blessington perhaps slightly edging the competition with the kill back 4 of O Connor (N), Richardson, Brady- Mullen and O Connor (S) dealing with their aerial threat.

Kill opened the scoring after David Kinsella received a pass from Liam O connor just inside the opponents half and magically danced his way through the Blessington defence before laying it on a platter for Alex Lynch. Lynch, who is in red hot form, never looked like missing.

What followed for the remaining 60+ minutes was an end to end game with two sides who were prepared to fight for the win. Blessington were a constant threat but Kill always looked good on the counter as the front four of Lynch, Power, Conroy and Kinsella were hungry for goals. The two middle men of Liam O Connor and Niall Devaney were tireless as they smothered the majority of the Blessington threats.

As the game edged into the final fifteen minutes it became stretched and kill spurned chances to seal the win. Joe cusack was brought on for Kinsella and birthday boy Karl Maguire was introduced for sean o connor. Both subs were an outlet for Celtic as they looked to see out the win.

The final 5 minutes saw Blessington going all out for a goal but the Kill back four, marshalled by Rob Gilligan , were impermeable. Manager Jordan lynch was forced to bring on Mr Man Flu Peter Fagan for Goalscorer Alex Lynch in the final few moments. Fagan to his credit, and much like the whole kill team, ran himself silly in the few minutes he was on.

As the referee blew his whistle for Full time, Kill Celtic were certainly relieved to get the three points. Blessington, despite being bottom were a threat today and had some tidy players.

Just a side note: it of course doesn't have to be said but everyone at this football club has the utmost respect for Jordan Lynch and want to wish him the best of luck Stateside. He is someone who stepped in when the team was about to fold and delivered 8 wins out of 9 without ever moaning once. What a man he is.
