GAZA 5 vs 3 INCEPCION FOOTBALL CLUB

Happy New Year to all. After the holiday season, we return to football for a friendly at AMK Sec. Wait, it was changed to Mayflower Sec at the last minute as somebody doesn’t know the difference.

We had 18 players for this friendly team against GAZA. We waited for the missing opponents who suddenly appeared out of nowhere from a side gate. This was a friend’s team and we played them before but I don’t recall ever beating them, only knowing that we had fought them many times.

Final score was 5-3 to them. Don’t ask me when were the goals scored. I forgot and Sherman wasn’t there to take notes. I can tell you two of their goals were solo efforts and one goal was a cracker from the outside of the box.

We had a lot of chances but we converted only 3. How did we score our 3 goals?

1st goal, Ron took a shot from outside the box and it squirmed out from the keeper’s hands, allowing the ever opportunistic Colin to pounce on it and prod home.

2nd goal, Harold crossed on the right and Colin squeezed in front of the defence to deftly flicked it into the goal. A well taken effort.

3rd goal, second half, a ball broke through for Colin, who sped past the last defender, and calmly lobbed over the advancing keeper for a cool finish.

Beyond that, Pat missed a sitter, Yew Boon had a couple of chances, Ron managed to keep the balls on the pitch, Clarence went to play striker and fell over his own feet. Yiong penetrated the wrong hole and SK went missing. And Colin screamed at the stand in "proud" captain.

Oh, and Colin had to leave early. A fantastic return of 3 goals in 55 minutes. Incepcion is so lucky to have such a magical striker as Colin and we are sure he will take us to greater heights when he assumes more responsibility.

We will not return to league action yet as we struggle with numbers and injuries, so we are having a friendly again. Stay tuned.
