Surprise, Surprise when the 'Man in Black' who stepped in at the 11th hour to referee the match was the Horden Supporters secretary Graeme Wetherell. Peterlee Hearts, being the good sports they are, raised no objections so that the game could go ahead.

Horden soon put the previous weeks disappointment behind them and scored in the very first minute. John Bowes delivery into the box was powerfully headed home by Jack Pounder. A further three goals by James Connor, Michael Boardman and a penalty tucked away by Robert Taylor gave the visitors a comfortable 0-4 lead at half time.

Hearts put up a fight in the second half with goals on 48 and 63 minutes, sandwiched between was another Boardman goal for 2-5. More Horden goals on 65 and 86 minutes gave Connor his hat-trick. There was a pleasant and encouraging sight on 70 minutes with a welcome return by Martin Fowler who has been absent all season after a foot operation. Jonathan Monaghan, the last substitute to take to the field, scored Horden's eighth on 90 minutes to complete the 2-8 scoreline.

The assists were provided by Bowes, Pounder (2), Taylor (2), Charlie Salicki (2) and Boardman.
