Hoole 1sts crashed out of the Guildhall Cup following a 3-2 defeat against Bolton on Saturday just gone.
After a good start, with some good possession, Hooles early pressure was rewarded when Roy Sermon scored with a well-taken goal to put Hoole into the lead.
However, after that Hoole failed to take advantage or push on, and the ball was given away in midfield leading to the equaliser. Bolton grew in confidence as a result and begane to use the 3g pitch better. With plenty of pace in attack & with the Hoole defence having an unusual off day, they looked dangerous every time they broke.
Hoole failed to get to grips with their playmaker no 4 & he controlled the game. Further sloppy play lead to another break on 35 mins & Martin was lobbed to make it 2-1 to them.
Hoole came close to equalizing when Joe created chance out of nothing , smashing against the crossbar from edge of box.
However, Bolton grabbed a critical third on 65 mins. Changes made with troy & kirby introduced. The greater pressure then came from Hoole & the pressure was rewarded when Troy headed a 2nd.
On another day, Hoole might have had a penalty when Dan was dragged down in the box.
Hoole finished the stronger but couldn't force the equaliser.
Final Score:
Hoole 2-3 Bolton
Manager Liam Moly Said:
"Overall we looked rusty & weren't good enough in possession. Basic mistakes ended up costing us. On a positive note, good to see a couple of squad additions in Luke & Lee, which will help us in the remaining league games."
