Hartley Wintney Falcons 3 vs 2 Hook Youth

Another good game to blow away the cobwebs before the League kicks of next Saturday... Division 1 opponents Hartley Wintney provided a decent test to hopefully prove to Hook Youth that they belong in the higher divisions.

The first 10 minutes were scrappy, similar to last week's opening 15 minutes. However, as Hook went on, they settled on to the ball and played some good football, and fought well for the ball. Only an unfortunate goal conceded on the stroke of half time (with the sun blinding the 'keeper from a high lob) prevented Hook finishing the half 2 up.

The second half tested the players' fitness and resolve as HW took control of the game and Hook became a little stand-offish. With some good individuals for HW, coupled with the somewhat generous time they were allowed on the ball, HW soon got level. A late winner for the hosts coming from a fortunate ball breaking from under the defender's feet allowing the attacker to lash home from 5 yards.

Another score going against them, but the performance should have left the players feeling confident and optimistic for the season ahead.
