A good all round performance against a team sitting directly below us in the league.
We started the game brightly and put the home team under pressure, with a few chances going begging.
Eventually we settled down and scored a goal from Michael Heffernan after a well worked move. A second goal soon followed after a quick flowing move and the ball over the top was finished well by Heffernan for his second goal of the game. HT 0 -2.
The second half continued as the first half had ended and although our hosts huffed and puffed they rarely threatened our goal.
A significant turning point came on the the hour as Heffernan was running through with only the goalie to beat but was brought down and the referee had no option but to issue a straight red.
It was soon 3-0 and game over when once again the dangerous Heffernan was took quick for the Ashtead defence and brought down for penalty , which was well taken by skipper Lydon.
The remainder of the game was pretty scrappy and all three subsiitutions were used with a rare appearance from player/manager Magee off the bench after keyhole knee surgery 8 weeks ago.
Full time 0-3 .
Next week we host Woking in a top of the table clash. A really tough test for us but we will give it everything we have to get a result
