Coventry Sphinx u12s 1 vs 1 Haunchwood Vixens

After a long wait for a game we travelled over to Coventry Sphinx a team who we had beaten earlier in the season but also a team who were in great form sitting just a win off top spot.

We set up with our usual formation and the girls all worked really hard in their individual roles, Sphinx are by far the most physical team we have encountered but the girls did us proud going toe to toe with them , midway through the first half an Evie Edwards shot was only parried away by the keeper , the quick reactions from Sapphire cooly slotting home to give is the lead , Sphinx equalised with the last kick of the 1st half.

Second half I felt we had the better of the chances and could easily have won it when Connie lobbed the keeper only for it to rebound off the crossbar.

Girl of the Game was a joint award between Molly who played centre mid for the first time and did so well and Poppie who looked solid in defence despite it being her first game for us.

The girls made me so proud today , their performance was fantastic and is exactly why I coach kids football ??????
