*Greenock HSFP Blacks 6 v 1 Kilwinning*
Back to league action this weekend against a decent Kilwinning side who came in on good form, and it turned into a cracking performance from the boys.
Kilwinning struck early after just 3 minutes with a soft penalty decision. Shammy guessed the right way and was unlucky not to keep it out, but we found ourselves 0-1 down.
The response was spot on. An Ashton corner caused problems and was turned into their own net to level things up at 1-1.
We were starting to play some really nice football and deservedly went ahead on 23 minutes. Another dangerous Ashton delivery caused problems, their keeper got a hand to it but couldn’t keep it out at the front post. 2-1.
Kilwinning then had a decent spell of pressure before half-time, but the defence stood firm and Shammy made a couple of big saves to protect the lead.
They came out strong again after the break, but we stayed organised and patient. The third goal finally arrived on 58 minutes, Kieran clipped one into Kaiden, who did well to play Lucas in. Lucas took on the defender and finished calmly low under the keeper. 3-1.
With the two-goal cushion, confidence really grew and the football we played after that was brilliant, quick, sharp and positive from back to front.
The fourth was a superb team move. Starting at the back, Jay into Ashton, then Sam driving forward before slipping Mure through. A clever dummy took the defender out and he finished neatly into the far corner. Proper team goal. 4-1.
Next came from a quick counter attack. Zak F and Ashton pressed well to win it back, Zack W played a great ball in behind and Lucas finished clinically for his second. 5-1.
GHS capped things off with another excellent team move. Lyle combined with Sam, into Ethan, who released Lucas just inside their half. He carried it forward with confidence and slotted home with his left foot to complete a hat-trick on debut. 6-1.
A brilliant all-round performance with everyone contributing. Great to see the boys back playing the passing, confident football we have seen so often this season.

A tough choice this week, but we felt Lucas edged it with a hat-trick on his debut, constant threat and three well-taken goals .
Shout-outs to Ashton who dominated in midfield, calm and clever in possession. And Shammy who was excellent between the sticks with safe hands and some big saves at key moments.
