Greenfield Youth FC U14 Pa 1 vs 4 Basing Royals U14 Hurrican

A very frustrating result against a very beatable team saw us lose in the last 16 this year. We knew they were going to be strong topping their league but if we played well enough then we can beat anyone on our day.

We started so well and had a few really good chances and deservedly took the lead with Jangles getting fouled in the box and splitting the penalty away nicely.

Basing were strong opponents and mentality wise were stronger. They did not let their heads go down and got back into the game with a penalty which Benno nearly got too .

Unfortunately panic sets in and we stop playing and believing we are a good side. They scored 5 minutes later with our boys starting to make mistakes.

Half time and we were better again for a short while without too much thret.

Basing were managing the game well and we ran out of ideas and started to hoof the ball which played right Into their hands.

We gave too many silly freekicks away outside our area but it was a good piece of skill from their forward to make it 3 -1 after he chipped Benno from 25yrd. He was given too much time to turn and shoot though.

Can't fault the effort of the boys until the end but we lost belief by then and we gave away a soft penalty near the end which Benno saved this time only for them to score from the resulting corner.
