Southwick U15 4 vs 3 Furngate Hawks U15

After some confusion about which pitch we would e playing on we had a quick warm up and readied ourselves for kick off!

We started brightly and conducted ourselves with a positive attitude and saw ourselves quickly and deservedly go 2-0 up.

2 quick fire goals from Owen (a screamer bent in to the top left corner) and Kian (a low drilled shot) both assisted by Aiden was nothing more than we deserved.

We restricted them to a couple of long range efforts and 2 very good chances that were well saved by Oliver.

With only 2 subs, the management was at lot easier but with Aiden and Toby needing a breather, we made our subs with around 10 mins to go before HT. Through no fault of the subs, we coughed up 2 goals and came in at HT having surrendered our 2 goal advantage.

A consistent feature is that our GK’s need some coaching on how to deal with free kicks. Everything from urgency, organising the wall, controlling the depth of the line, positioning and all of this before we think about saving it.

2nd half once again was strong and Tommy delivering a delightful cross for Kian to finish put us back in front. But some poor decisions in possession cost us and we once again offered fairly simple chances for the oppo to score.

Back 4 were good, Owen had a couple of brilliant spells in the game, Tyler was back to his best, Kian and Aiden were class but our captain Oscar was different class once again, winning man of the match.

Feedback from players was mixed, Owen, Oliver L and Rio thought subs shouldn’t have been made but Aidan said players were dead on their feet and we needed more
