After another lack lustre warm up, I sensed that we wouldn’t start well. I even mentioned it to Kaysha.
42 seconds into the game we found ourselves 1-0 down after we had a chance to go through and take a shot ourselves.
Some big tackles were made, all of ours fouls according to the referee and all of theirs were fair! I have never seen such a one sided referee and this was reported. That said, his lack of ability to officiate the game didn’t prevent us from working hard to recover a lost ball, chase a through ball or track back and help our mates out. We did that to ourselves.
All over the park, we were awful. Aiden was the only player that showed the desire to work hard after Tyler went off.
Not sure why, we kept letting the ball roll across our bodies and the Hove Park midfield just picked us off every time. Their number 9 was like a quarterback, lots of space and now he looks like a world beater.
They took advantage of our short comings and they were 4-0 up before we even switched on.
After a very different half time chat that was different to any other this season, the lads ears were ringing as they are their oranges and sipped their drinks. Frustrated at Jack H and Antos switching positions when told not to i did rip in to the lads.
Frustration out of the way, we were massively improved in the 2nd half but we definitely seemed like we lacked energy and intensity from Connor, Ben and Kian.
Antos and Aidan picked up yellow cards but I accept that, they battled hard. We made some great challenges and scored 2 wonder goals but in general, we got what we deserved today…. Our ass handed to us.
Personally, I’m slightly relieved that we can stop thinking about the unbeaten streak but also gutted we dropped 3 points.
Let’s go again next week
