Our second league match of the season down at Riverside on a Tuesday evening.I was hoping the team would take home the 3 points from this match to give us a good start to the season, and potentially taking 4 points from the first possible 6.

The lads started the match well, and first half performance was excellent. Some lovely passing football right across the pitch, again using Layton as an outlet when necessary. The team were in full control throughout the first half, and were afforded quite a lot of time and space on the ball, which allowed them to play a passing style of football at a relaxed tempo.

In the 9th minute of the match a perfectly weighted through ball by Maison was picked up by Eze, who travelled with the ball well before smashing the ball into the back of the net.

Half time 1-0, it was clear we were the dominant team and 5 changes were made, Second half started similar, and in the 44th minute we scored our second through a clinical finish from Hamzah. The game did seem to be a bit stop/start after this, although we were still fully in control, we just could not seem to find the passes in the final third to create good opportunities.

Ralphie Brown was unlucky when he seen his effort bounce back off the post and Rhys Wighton shook the crossbar with a powerful attempt. Rhys persistence did pay off however when he sealed the win through a well taken goal with the last kick off the ball.

Delighted to get our first win in Tier 2, and although it was not our finest performance, the lads still got the job done comfortably. Quite a few players were asked to play in positions they hadn't previously played in before, which gave us the opportunity to try new things.

Well done lads. Comfortable win and 4 points on the board from a possible 6 - great start to our new season. On to Sunday!
