Dryburgh Athletic 2012s 2 vs 5 Fairmuir Boys Club

We travelled to Graham Street today to face Fairmuir Boys Club in the first round of the league cup.

We were expecting a difficult game having previously drawn 2-2 with Fairmuir in the first game of the season.

After a good start to the game Fairmuir opened the scoring, however our boys responded well when Coden Gorrie took advantage of a defensive error to finish well and put us level.

We capitalised on this and went ahead midway though the first half when Lucus Syme followed up a saved Maison King shot to put us ahead. Hoping to go in 2-1 at half time but Fairmuir managed to equalise close to half time. Half time 2-2 however I was positive that we could keep going as we were in the first half and hopefully the game would swing our way.

Unfortunately this way not the case, we just could not seem to find our flow in the second half and Fairmuir eventually regained the lead before scoring two (dubious) penalties to put the game well out of reach for us.

Not our day today and definitely a game of two half's, first half excellent but second half we lacked effort and quality going forward.

We will have our chance to redeem ourselves against Fairmuir at South Road in the league later on this season, but overall a disappointing day for the team.
