A scrappy win in which our boys were highly frustrated throughout by the Eagles. The boys came into game high on confidence knowing that a win was a must. Based on the first half performance, it may have proved to be over-confidence that cost the team a good performance. The game provided numerous chances for our boys and struggled to convert with Manè having a couple of chances and John Jayjay Howells going narrowly close from two headed efforts from corners. Two changes at half-time introduced Louis Moss and Carl Williams, who helped to change the game with Cromwell threatening more going forward and creating more chances, but still couldn't find a way through. The boys were then punished for not taking their chances as Eagles converted a penalty. It had taken conceding for our boys to finally breakthrough as brilliant footwork from Lloyd Pugh helped carry the ball into the area and powered it in to the top corner. The boys continued to push for a winner and found one through Sean Mason firing from the edge of the area. The boys confirmed the win with Lloyd Pugh driving into the box from the left hand side and firing a powerful strike into the roof of the net. The boys will look to improve on this performance when they play Rogerstone next weekend.
