Cowie went down to their first defeat of the year after a poor performance away to Woodside today.

Cowie actually started the game well and found themselves 2-0 up after just 6 minutes when McDONALD flicked home a Nicoll cut back and then from a long throw by McCombie, LOVICK got a glancing header to beat the keeper. This was as good as it got for Cowie though.

Woodside looked dangerous from set pieces and after half an hour got a goal back when a cross was headed home unmarked by the No.9, this lead to a Cowie collapse and they conceded 2 more soft goals in 5 minutes to find themselves 3-2 down.

It got worse before half time when a challenge by Buchanan was deemed a foul despite minimal contact and the referee had no hesitation pointing to the spot, which the striker converted for 4-2.

Cowie came out fighting in the 2nd half to try and get back into it and had a couple of half chances but after 65 minutes conceded yet another soft goal which completely killed the game.

The rest of the game was uneventful and scrappy until the last kick of the ball when a long wasn’t defended properly and Woodside made it 6-2.

A lesson to be learnt today for the team, after a fantastic start they conceded so many poor goals but no doubt Woodside deserved all 3 points.
