Tarves 4 - 5 Cowie Thistle

Cowie came out on top today after a 9 goal thriller in Tarves today.

Playing up the Tarves slope, Cowie made a great start, going 2-0 inside 20 minutes, first through an OG and then CRAN finished past the keeper after a great through ball by Mutly.

Tarves got a goal back on the half hour after a soft penalty was converted but Cowie restored the 2 goal advantage just before half time when the ball fell to Mutly at the back post, with an open goal he only hit the bar, miss of the season, or so we thought, but fortunately CRAN finished the rebound.

Having been playing uphill and looking so comfortable, Cowie then proceeded to gift Tarves 2 goals with poor defending as the home side made it 3-3 not long after half time.

MUTLY closed down a keepers kick out and scored into the empty net to make it 4-3 after 66 minutes, but Tarves then went up the park and equalised when a corner hit Salmond and went in.

With 10 minutes to go McDonald then had header saved, the rebound fell to the striker a couple of yards out but he could only blaze his shot high & wide, 100% miss of the season.

With 2 minutes left Cowie got the winner, a good diagonal ball found Cran and his cross/shot was turned in this time by McDONALD to silence the Tarves yokels.

A game that was so comfortable at half time but the boys did well to fight to very end to get a vital 3 points.
