Cowie Thistle 0 - 3 St Laurence

Cowie went down to their first defeat of the season with a disappointing home defeat to St Laurence.

Cowie got off to the worst possible start when a short back pass in the 2nd minute was picked up on by the St Laurence striker who did well to round the keeper and finish from a tight angle.

The team tried to react to losing the early goal and went closest when Irv hit the post but other than that it was a case of more missed half chances.

10 minutes after half time it was 2-0 when again poor defending allowing St Laurence a simple goal and the same happened again 10 minutes after that when the St Laurence player was free in the box to head home.

Cowie pressed for the remaining 25 minutes but couldn’t find a way through the organised St Laurence back line and keeper who made a couple superb saves and in the end they held on for a comfortable victory and they could’ve made it more but for some good saves from the Cowie keeper in the last 5 minutes.

A poor performance all round from the team and a night to forget with everyone hurting but it’s to be remembered that winning 4 of the first 5 games is a decent start to the season.

Hopefully the team pick things up for the first cup game of the season on Saturday at home to Old Aberdonians.
