Cowie went out of the Premier Trophy this afternoon after a narrow 2-1 defeat to Rothie.

In a scrappy game with few clear cut chances, Cowie had the better of the play and took the lead after 60 minutes when a cross into the box by Watson was deflected into the path of CRAN who finished well, high into the net.

Cowie were comfortable with the Rothie attacks and looked like progressing into the semi final as the game entered the final 10 minutes but were hit by two late goals from Rothie, the first a free header from a corner after 84 minutes and then the winner in 87 minutes when a clearance from keeper Chin fell straight to the Rothie number 8 who superbly volleyed the ball back into the empty net from fully 35 yards.

There was still time for Cowie to hit the bar from a Watson effort and throw everything at the Rothie goal but they couldn’t find an equaliser.

A disappointing defeat but the team could count themselves a little unlucky to lose the game, have to pick the heads up for the North of Scotland tie with the same opposition next week.
