Cowie got back to winning ways with a hard fought but well deserved win over Old Aberdonians at Balgownie today.

The pitch was in surprisingly good condition given the recent rain, with only a couple of soaking spots, and Cowie looked the brighter team from the start creating a couple half chances before taking the lead after 16 minutes when a cross from Oldroyd was finished at the back post by A COZZY at the second attempt.

Cowie had more chances to add to the lead in the remainder of the half but some good goalkeeping and last ditch clearances kept the score at 1-0 half time.

Old Aberdonians came out the better side at the start of the second half and Cowie had to hold on for a spell but managed to see it out and in the 60th minute extended the lead when OLDROYD picked the ball up from a Nicoll lay off, drove forward and finished from 25 yards into the bottom corner.

Cowie then looked comfortable and again had more chances to make the game safe but didn’t take any until injury time when a cross from Muzzy was met by Nicoll, the keeper made a good save but CRUSTY was there to smash the ball home into the top corner for 3-0.

A good team performance with an improved defensive display to get the 3 points and a clean sheet, hopefully a morale boost for the lads going into the Scottish Cup game in Glasgow next week.
