Cowie progressed to the 2nd round of the Scottish Cup with a hard fought win over Kaimhill today.

Having actually started the match well and going close on a couple of occasions, Cowie found themselves 2-0 down after 20 minutes when Kaimhill capitalised on poor defending to score twice.

Cowie got one back in 25 minutes when a long throw from Valentine was headed home by McCOMBIE and then they equalised 2 minutes later when R COZZY ran onto a Buck flick on, rounded the keeper and made it 2-2.

Just before half time Cowie took the lead when a shot from Oldroyd was parried by the keeper and BUCK reacted quickest to the rebound and made it 3-2.

The 2nd half was very stop start with few chances created, until in the 75th minute a corner was half cleared to WISE who powered the ball home for 4-2.

With the game seemingly over, Kaimhill got a goal back in the 83rd minute when they were awarded a penalty for handball and Cowie had to hold on for the final few minutes as Kaimhill threw everything forward looking for an equaliser, but it finished 4-3.

Not the best of performances, with quite a few having an off day but as always with cup games it doesn’t matter about the performance as long as we’re into the next round
