Beacon Rangers 2 - 4 Cowie Thistle

A heavily depleted Cowie moved into the 4th round of the Scottish Cup with 2 late goals sealing the win today.

On a narrow heavy pitch, the football on display wasn't the greatest and Beacon took the lead on 20 minutes when their striker finished from the edge of the box.

A change of shape got Cowie back into the game and deservedly equalised just before halftime when good work from Irv on the wing resulted in McDonalds shot being blocked and MANTAS finished the rebound.

Into the 2nd half and Cowie took the lead after 55 minutes when Irv headed the ball across and MANTAS bundled the ball over the line for his 2nd of the game.

As Beacon started to throw more forward, the makeshift defence was holding firm until the 72nd minute when a quick throw was played, the ball came across and the winger finished from inside the 6 yard box.

With a replay looking likely, Cowie took the lead again in the 80th minute when McDONALD headed the ball in at the back post, as the keeper tried to claw it back Beacon claimed the ball never went in but the ref gave the goal.

The win was sealed in the last minute when McDONALD beat his man on the wing and finished across the keeper into the far corner.

Not the prettiest of displays but with the numbers missing and amount of players out of position it was a hard fought win, special mention to Ross and Stevie who had to play at the back and both put in good displays.
