Banchory 4 - 2 Cowie Thistle

A disappointing defeat today in the AFC Trophy at Banchory where discipline and missed chances cost us.

The heavy pitch was cutting up early on and making it hard for football to be played but Cowie still managed to create 3 or4 clear cut chances, the best being Kyle hitting the bar with a header from close range.

Banchory took the lead against the run of play when an infringing corner was judged to have crossed the line at the back post, didn't look in but this ref knows best.

Cowie created another couple really good chances before half time and then straight after but again should of been doing much better in front of goal but got a deserved equaliser in 58 minutes when Salmond played BUCK through and he finished with ease past the keeper.

The game then turned 5 minutes later when the Banchory striker beat Jarvie to a through ball, rounded him and Jarvie took him down for the penalty and a red card. Penalty scored for 2-1.

Down to 10 men it was going to be a tough 30 odd minutes but Cowie got back into the game only a couple minutes later when BUCK superbly beat 3 defenders on the edge of the box and finished calmly past the keeper.

Unfortunately Banchory re-took the lead as the 10 men pushed for a winner, hitting the bar a further 2 times and then with Cowie throwing everything forward for an equaliser Banchory scored a 4th with 5 minutes to go, a good finish from 25 yards, to go through to the next round.
