Consett The Turf 0 vs 1 Consett Central FC

A scruffy match to say the least, where we made things hard on ourselves by not doing the basics of the game. The main area we struggled in was midfield, where finding the simplest of passes seemed like a chore, however that goes across the entire park as there weren't many passes that were strung together.

The first half could've been compared to a game of basket ball with how back and forth it was, with neither team finding the net. Our defence were often getting ran rings around by the opposition due to a lack of energy coming back from midfield.

With solid games from both Robbie and Jack Wilkes at the back, the Turf were unable to secure a goal which would've really put us on the back-foot.

Man of the match for today goes to the still injured Dan Lumley, who once again replaces Andy Gowland in net for a great game between the sticks.

In midfield, we saw the return of Paul Graham, sticking in the hard tackles early on to let the Turf know that we meant business. Meanwhile, Jack James returned to his position of captain and produced a stellar block off the line which kept the game at 0-0.

As the game pressed on, a frustrated Conor Burns was finally able to find the net from a shot bouncing back off the crossbar, and landing perfectly at his feet for the winning goal.

Overall, a very tight game where the opposition put up a great fight, and some would argue, were unlucky to come away with nothing. On to the next game lads!!! ??????
