Claregate returned to winning ways this afternoon after a convincing 4-1 victory over Whitmore Reans.

Claregate showed sheer determination and will to win in difficult weather conditions.

Sam "Woppy" Wapshott fired an early first time volley crashing against the bar on 15 minutes but it was Whitmore Reans that grabbed the first goal on 24 minutes.

Their lead was short lived though, an inswinging Jon Wilson freekick from the left was met by the head of a Whitmore Reans defender but Nathan Garratt got the final touch to bring the scores level on 29 minutes.

Claregate edged ahead in the 35th minute when Woppy flicked a pass over the defence for Rodney "Trotter" Williams to chest and volley past a helpless keeper.

On 42 minutes, Woppy and Trotter combined again after Woppy ran 30 yards without challenge to square to Trotter who was able to back heel a pass into the path of Danny Rai who took a touch and finished neatly into the bottom corner from 12 yards.

Claregate went into half time 3-1 in front.

It didn't take long for Claregate to find the 4th and final goal of the game when Danny Rai picked up the ball inside the opponents half and found Jay Rumbold on the left near the angle of the 18 yard box where Jay was able to lift a curling finish into the opposite top corner leaving the keeper with no hope of saving it.

Man of the match today went to Dale Elliott for a colossal defensive display that was faultless all game but also special mentions to Jon Wilson for his accurate distribution, Trotter for his tireless efforts in attack, Jay Rumbold's industrious and busy wing play, skipper Tom Banks' tough tackling and Woppy for his all round midfield performance.

A superb team effort that was rewarded with a well deserved 3 points.

Sub used was Anthony Lane on for injured Nathan Garratt on 75 minutes.

Unused sub was Steven Ashwin.
