Today's away league fixture against Old Cross Athletic ended in a share of the spoils with a 3-3 scoreline.
Chances were being created at both ends but it was Old Cross who took the lead in the 21st minute and then added a 2nd goal 8 minutes later. Claregate got back into the game though with a well placed Jon Wilson header from a Nathan Garratt free kick just inside the Old Cross half. Half time saw the scoreline at 2-1.
A half time change saw Steven Cater enter the fray. Jon Wilson was able to add a to his first goal with a well placed penalty into the top right hand corner of the goal following a handball from Old Cross inside their area. Claregate then edged in front when Steven Cater ran onto a loose ball after Kevin Haughton challenged an Old Cross defender. Steven kept his cool and slotted a neat finish inside the far post to take the score to 3-2. Old Cross managed to grab an equaliser 10 minutes from time which proved to be the last of the goal action. Old Cross proved to be tough opponents today but Claregate can take great credit from coming back from 2-0 down. Stand out man of the match performance from keeper Craig Beale who made a series of top class saves to help secure an away point.
We will challange Pendeford FC at home next Sunday and a return to Tettenhall College.
